Breathe Deep


Pranayama (breathing practices) are great ways to calm the nerves, quiet the mind, and reset the nervous system. When knitting we can get caught up in when we will finish a project, or knitting too tight because a pattern is complicated. No matter the reason you find yourself slipping from a place of ease and joy, breathing practices can help you stay mindful while knitting.

One of our prefered pranayama practices that help us reset is called Nadhi Shodnana or Alternate Nostril Breathing. We find if we feel a little haywire or over excited this helps us to reset our nervous system.

Try it out:

Take your right hand and fold your pointer and middle finger into your palm. With your ring finger place it on your left nostril to close it off. Inhale through your right nostril and then

close it off with your right thumb and release the pinky finger, exhaling out the left nostril. Inhale through the left nostril, place the right ring finger on the nostril, releasing the thumb from the right nostril and exhale out the right nostril. Repeat this five more times. the nostril, releasing the thumb from the right nostril and
